About The Quilt

2x2 ft Barn Quilt – Village Trail

Note: Hangs in the window of Mama Chavez Restaurant

According to legend, the Aztecs saw an eagle perched on a cactus devouring a snake in 1325, founding their capital city in Mexico. Similarly, the “Mighty Oatka” helped us establish the legend of Mama Chavez’s Taqueria in 2019, LeRoy, NY.

Maria 'Mama' Chavez was born in the small town of San Nicolas de los Augustos in Guanajuato, Mexico. She is one of twelve children born to Trinidad and Dolores Garcia Muniz. As you can imagine, with that many siblings, Maria was always in the kitchen helping her mother prepare meals. That is where her love and passion for sharing her creations began. In June 2019, Maria retired early from her job to fulfill her lifelong dream of owning a taqueria. At Mama Chavez’s, you can enjoy traditional favorites such as Flautas, Burritos, Tostadas, and more!
